NFL playoffs and Superbowl season mean more wings around Western New York. As the chicken wing demand increases, so are the prices. Wings are a year-round specialty in Buffalo, but the demand increases around the holidays, NBA season and NCAA March Madness. Duff’s Famous Wings Restaurant in Amherst pays $2.10 for each pound of wings. That’s up 42 cents from this time last year. It’s also a dollar more than they paid back in summer 2008.
Chicken Wing Prices
Jan. 2010 = $2.10 per pound
Jan. 2009 = $1.68 per pound
June 2008 = $ 1.10 per pound
The national Chicken Council expects the cost to drop after March Madness.
