Original YNN Buffalo Air Date: 04/21/09
Western New York transportation union officials say CSX managers announced job and production cuts coming to the Buffalo based rail yard. In about two weeks there will be fewer trains and workers moving through frontier rail yard. Union reps say CSX plans to cut 20 to 25% of its Buffalo work force while eliminating five of the eight trains that originate here in the Queen City. This will eliminate 400 of the1000 cars a day passing through frontier yard. Area union officials say this was not the outcome they expected. YNN attempted to contact CSX management, but so far received no response. Union workers tell YNN CSX grossed $246 million in the first quarter.
