It was a moment 95-years in the making for central Virginian Charles Edwards. The father of ten traveled three hours with several of his adult children to see presumptive democratic nominee Senator Barack Obama.
The Edwards family was part of the 2,000-plus crowd of Obama supporters who filled the stands of the Virginia High School in Bristol, Virginia.
A political town hall became a generational melting pot Thursday in Southwest Virginia. Supporters for the Illinois junior senator braved 90-plus degree heat and extensive security detail to attend the gathering.
It’s been more than 40-years since a democratic presidential candidate hosted a town hall in the region. But at least half the demographic makeup of the meeting would never remember that far back.
From senior citizens to high school rising seniors, the town hall tied generations behind their common adoration for the presumptive democratic nominee.
Tricities.com reporter Nicki Mayo talks to town hall attendees and Obama supporters about their family and generational ties to the democratic nominee.
