There are less than 48 hours away from the July 4th holiday. That means Tri-Cities travelers are already hitting the road for their vacation destinations.
Thousands of travelers are expected to hit the road Thursday for the July 4th weekend. But, high gas prices are putting the breaks on many Tri-Cities travelers.
AAA predicts nearly one million Virginians will travel 50 miles or more from home. That’s down three percent this time last year.
Nearly 695,000 people will travel around Tennessee over the weekend. That’s also down 1.3% from 2007.

The average price for a gallon of unleaded gasoline is $3.98 in the commonwealth while the national average hovers around $4.09
