10/30/08: Army Veteran Sends Souvenir From Berlin Wall To Palin

A Southwest Virginia man is sending Governor Sarah Palin a piece of world history.
The Mountain Empire is becoming a campaign stop gift shop this election season. You’ll recall this summer a man handed Senator Barack Obama a hand carved walking stick. Now, a Bristol army veteran wants to give the republican vice presidential candidate a piece of the Berlin Wall.
Our news partners at the Bristol Herald Courier caught up with Jim Sisk at yesterday’s Mike Hukabee GOP rally in Abingdon.
The retired Bristol, Virginia army veteran says he backed Huckabee until the former Arkansas governor dropped out of the race. Sisk credits Alaskan Governor Sarah Palin with motivating him to support Senator John McCain for president.
Sisk brought the Berlin Wall brick back to the United States in 1980 after serving in Germany.
It’s about the size of a standard red brick and wrapped in a rusty barbed wire from the Berlin Wall
Jim Sisk gave the rock to Virginia’s McCain-Palin campaign director Mike Reynold who promised to deliver it to Gov. Palin by Saturday. ###
