Oh October! Time for every TV news station to send reporters out to cover some of the most terrifying haunted houses around.
Tampa NBC affiliate WFLA-TV has by far one of the most brave and composed photojournalists I’ve ever seen take on the wicked walk on the wild side.
Apparently nothing shakes Anthony Allred. His walk through Busch Garden’s Howl-O-Scream looked like he designed the corpse course and played golf with the goblins. He never jumped. There were no curse words uttered. He didn’t even run. That camera rig stayed intact as he walked gingerly walked through the creepy house.
Even CNN’s Anderson Cooper had to give the Florida journalist props for not getting paranoid in the haunted attraction.
Check this guy out.
By comparison, I’m a total crybaby after my visit to Kim’s Krypt in Essex, Maryland.
Let’s just say our producer and photographer had a field day freaking me out in there while testing out the nocturnal vision functions on the cameras.
Trust me, all screams were totally real and at one point I think I broke a wall trying to run out of there.
In the end… Anthony Allred is my hero because I could not have handled myself like that in a haunted house.
NOTE: Full disclosure, I worked for WFLA-TV’s parent company Media General 2007-2009.
