J.C. Drag Racing Death Defendant Heads to Parole Board

A man convicted of vehicular homicide in a highly publicized drag racing crash goes before a parole board Thursday morning.
Bradley Mullins will make his case to the board to reduce if not eliminate his time behind bars.
Mullins is serving a five year sentence for his role in a fatal crash that claimed the life of a Tri-Cities teenager.
The deadly 2005 drag racing accident killed Cortney Hensley and severely injured Courtney Beard on North Roan Street in Johnson City.
Bradley Mullins was convicted on vehicular homicide and aggravated assault charges.
Your Tri-Cities News Source spoke with the victims’ family. They tell us they’ve been told Mullins could get out of jail very soon.
Although he received a five year sentence, the law requires he serve only 30% of that behind bars. If you combine that with time off for good behavior, Mullins could get out of jail as early as 2009. That even if he’s not granted early parole.
Thursday at 8:30 a.m. Mullins will return to the Jonesborough Courthouse to make his case to the parole board to be released early. His appeal comes after a judge denied his work release request back in late August.
The co-defendant, David Phillips was also convicted in this case but remains free pending the results of an appeal.
