08/22/08: JC Female Impersonator Alleges Gay Bashing Assault

A Johnson City female impersonator speaks out for the first time since allegedly being assaulted Wednesday morning.
Angel Renee Rose agreed to be interviewed, but asked to use her stage name for security reasons.
According to police reports, Rose and two other males were assaulted around 2a.m. outside the New Beginnings Night Club on Bristol Highway in Johnson City.
Rose received bruises to the head and a busted lip. She says her bottom jaw was knocked out of place and she had to be treated at Johnson City Medical Center.
The 20-year-old Johnson City resident says the assault was a hate crime.
Rose describes the suspects as two white males. One man was 5’7 with brown hair, a beard and mustache. He was reportedly wearing a white shirt with blue sleeves.
The second man was about 5’8. He had blonde hair, hazel or dark green eyes as wore a blue “Aeropostale” shirt.
Rose and the other two assault victims reported the suspects’ license number to Johnson City Police Department.
Rose says authorities told her the plates were found not belonging to the truck they described from the scene outside the club.
The victims feel the attack was a pre-meditated gay bashing.
A simple assault case has been filed. A Johnson City Police officer is working on the case.
Police tell Your Tri-Cities News Source the case has yet to be handed over to detectives, and is not considered an investigation at this time. ###
