Tri-Cities boaters and fishers taking to area streams are coming up dry with low water levels. The Appalachian area is wading in a long term severe drought.
Areas such as Holston River and Winged Deer Park are seeing crest levels nearly one foot lower than normal.
Memorial Day levels along Boone Lake were low considering the water is just starting to crest this month.
It’s not just the fishers, but the farmers who are thirsty for more rain.
Dry conditions are washing in a wave of economic issues across the Appalachian area.
The National Drought Mitigation Center reports the agricultural and hydrological impact is really being felt across Tennessee and North Carolina.

Virginia 1 – 60 Tennessee 61 – 120 North Carolina >240
The Tar Heel state has the most impacted areas than anywhere in the United States. There are more than 240 impacted areas in North Carolina.
The Volunteer state is struggling with 61 to 120 cases.
Virginia mitigation numbers are hovering under 60 reported cases.
